I just purchased a 1930 Bungalow that has oak floors needing restoration. I was told that there may be some kind of “revitalizer” I could try before deciding to sand and refinish. Does anyone know the names of some of these and where I can find them? Also, any comments on the quality of these products? Do they work well? Easy to use?
If the floors do need to be refinished, what should I expect to spend (ballpark) to have it done professionally. There is about 580 square feet of hardwood flooring.
Thanks,
Jason

JG,
what type of finish is on the floor already. If its a poly and your floor is not in to bad a shape you maybe able to screen it and apply a new finish. thats not to expensive to have done. the only "revitalizer" I know about is one made by Varathane.
*b WBA At Your Service$2 to $3 per square foot for refinish, ballpark
*I believe the floors have either an oil or wax finish. Definately not poly finish.Jason
*Jason,The first thing you should do is to test the finish to find out exactly what you are working with. The old thinner/alcohol test. I cant recall which finish dissolves with which...I always have to re-read that section of a finishing book I have. I think I've seen the process described in the Finishing section of FWW forum.Anyway, if its not poly, more than likley you could reamalgimate the finish with those rejuvinator products. Try Garrett Wade...I believe I've seen similar products advertised in their catalog.
