My sister in law lives in west palm beach. She is interested in installing wood flooring in her home.A local flooring contractor has given her 2 options. One pergo or similar glued directly to concrete slab, which is about 8 inches above grade.Second option is tar paper over slab 3/4 cdx fastened to slab with 3/4 solid oak strip nailed to plywood.I am from northern NJ and have never put oak over concrete in this manner. any thoughts on this or any suggestions? thanks

Pergo is a LAMINATE floor that is made with high pressure laminate face much like Formica counter tops. It is not wood. And I have never heard of it being glued down. All of the instructions that I have seen call for it to be a floating floor.
Could he have been refering to a ENGINEERED WOOD FLOOR. Those ahre layers of wood arranged much like plywood, but much thicker.
