I’d like to get an idea of what the average cost of a hardwood-floor installation is. (per sq ft)
There’s about 640sq ft of pre-finished oak flooring to go down, the pieces are about 3″ wide or so.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

I charge $3.00 per for install and $2.25 per for sand and finish.

Lordalmighty, I'm rich! I just installed 150 sq ft today!
Then after lunch I ....
Actually, those are about right. I figure 2.50 for install and anywhere from 2.50 to 4.00 for finishing

Rates will vary from one region to another. I've found many parts of California to be the highest and rural areas of the Appalachains to be on the lowest side. A good ballpark guesstimate to work with would be $2.45 per square foot but each and every job is different. Rates will also vary considerably within your region as many are trying to get a piece of the hardwood flooring action. Carpet installers could be considered ones that "want in" on the better paying hardwood floor business. Be careful out there with choosing an installer as there's more to the business than just slammin' it in.
People expect perfection thesedays with hardwood floors and perfection will not work if no attention to moisture control is considered before, during and after any installation.
