I would like to replace existing carpet on a staircase with some hardwood. Does anyone have tips for this process or can point me to a good article or book?
Thanks, Dennis

start at the bottom and you will be really good at scribing by the time you get to the top. get the quart tubes of pl400 too.
Make sure that the trim on the side(s) is secure and won't move before you start.
You don't want to fit one step in and then the second one is a bit tighter and the trim moves and now the first step has a gap at the end. If it's an open staircase then that shouldn't be a problem.
Don't ask...
I'm sure there is a template tool that you can use. If I ever do it again, I think that would be worth it to get one. You can jury rig with scraps of lumber, but that is a bit of a pain.
