Hi all, I received the new FHB yesterday and the article on “in-floor heating” got me thinking about a reno I’m doing. The space in question will be a living room on the half above/half below grade of a 4 level split. This floor is concrete with vinyl tile and is very cold all year round and was built in 1959.
What is common practise for installing hardwood over old concrete? The existing floor seems extremely stable and I can’t see moisture being a problem. The FHB article did not mention using a hydronic heating system for this type of installation (with concrete) – any thoughts on this? Is it do-able?
I’d appreciate any thoughts on this subject or other flooring suggestions for this room. Thanks in advance for any feedback…

Greetings MG,
If you scroll down in the lower left corner of your screen there is a search function that will take you to previous threads dealing with whatever you type in the search bar.
If you'll type in 'wood over radiant' or various terms similar you will find a good supply of data on the subject as it has been discussed many times here.
Cheers
