I have a customer that wants a 3″/5″/7″ red oak floor installed in a bedroom which is over an 18″ deep unheated (but insulated) poly covered dirt crawlspace. Am I asking for trouble with the temperature difference in this situation?

I installed 1500 SF of prefinished Bruce 3/4"X3.25" Red Oak over an unheated crawl 2 years ago and the floor's fine (location: Coastal MD). I did direct the installer to use felt in lieu of building paper however.

What runnerguy said -- use felt to slow down the moisture even more.
I won't be laughing at the lies when I'm gone,
And I can't question how or when or why when I'm gone;
I can't live proud enough to die when I'm gone,
So I guess I'll have to do it while I'm here. (Phil Ochs)
