I have a client who wants oak veneer applied over existing faceframes in her kitchen. Any advice on surface prep, adhesives, or installation tips would be helpful. I am most concerned with the right type of adhesive to use.

There are companies who make refacing kits. I don't know of any off hand, but they'd have all the right materials and instructions. Otherwise, I think I'd choose peel and stick veneer vs. the plain kind you'd have to glue on.
*Doug: Several years ago I applied 3/16 inch oak laminates to the face frames on a set of kitchen cabinets. These cabinets were so greasy from obviously never being cleaned. Anyway, degreased them, contac cemented the laminates. Worked great. New cabinet doors made the kitchen look brand new.
