I had a past customer request a bid for the installation of a laminate floor in their sons bedroom, who has severe asthma and allergies. After price shopping and comparing the cost and quality of laminate wood flooring versus genuine hardwood flooring, I found that in a smaller sized room 10′ x 12′, hardwood installation would be the best way to go. But I am unsure of the properties or characteristics in reference to severe allergies and asthma. Does anybody have insight or tips????
any rec. for a hardwood manufacturer that produces t & G floor boards with a1/16″inch variance at the seams and joints? to eliminate dust build up in joints.

laminate flooring contains formadehyde and other toxins that can offgass. Laminate flooring is hell on carbide cutters and the dust alone can give you headaches, its basically a harderdensity MDF with a nice pretty picture venered to the surface to make it look like hardwood.
go with natural wood and use a waterborne stain and sealer. It can be refinished over time and when you walk on wood it sounds real, not a tick tick tick tick sound.
I cant stand lamiate flooring, its the work of the devil..... its nasty stuff to work with.....
What about engineered flooring?
Real wood, good dimensional stability, no MDF, (and the potential outgassing), and, with some companies products, snap together and prefinished.
Less trips to the site, easier on the clients, and a longer lasting, tougher finish.
Would that be the best of both worlds?
