I installed Ondura Roofing on a cabana near my pool in the backyard some years ago. The literature and promises sounded good but the reality wasn't. The panels were installed on sleepers which left the underside exposed. While it looked ok, the dew and high humidity here in Central Florida settled on the exposed underside and leached out a tar-like liquid that dripped on everything. I finally had to put up a ceiling which pretty much solved that problem. The panels didn't age very well and quickly became very brittle. The daily sun didn't help. One night we had a decent hailstorm (diameter equal to that of a nickle/quarter) and the hail went through the Ondura like rifle shots. The hail blew out holes equal to the hail size all over the roof. Needless to say, that was the end of that. It may survive better in northern lattitudes but it was a bust in the south. Good luck.

We used it once on an addition because we had to match what was on the existing roof .I wasnt to impressed with it . Luckily our addition had a simple roof with only a couple of vent penatrations, but the existing roof had some pretty questionable flashing details . I would save about twenty bucks a square and buy laminated shingles and apply the savings toward labor. For what its worth Chuck

thanks for the insights, have either of you gentleman contacted the company about their lifetime warrenty??? were they any help??
*no experiance installing the material, however my neighbor who installed it 8yrs ago, had to replace it this year....needless to say they went w/ shingles
*The lifetime warrantee was one of the things that first attracted me to the Ondura product. After my experience, I just wanted to get it to the landfill and move on. Best of luck.
