I’m curious. Has anyone considered cable advertising? If so did you get the results you were hoping for? I passed out flyers and though I didnt get a huge response the job I did land is a complete renovation (which is what I like the best). My problem is that i’m so busy with this job I have no time to continue with the flyers. Just looking into other options.

I live in a town of about 36k. Our local cable company has a channel that advertises mainly real estate and a few other things. I have a 30 second spot on there that is a pro announcer doing verbage with a series of still photos. Cost me $35 a week for 260 runs a week. We get an average of 2 calls a week and sell about 40%. Really like it as it is the only advertising we have done that has consistantly paid off, except the home show but thats only once a year.
We just started running a 30 second spot through the same company on different cable show. That cost me about $7 a spot for a package. Verdict is still out on that one. Tried radio, no response. Tried the free ad paper, no response. DanT
Dan, Thanks for the reply. I cant believe how affordable this seems. I have an Appointment this friday with a sales rep. I think i'll give it a try.
Let me know the cost in your area. Just curious. I tried to work with another cable company in another small town and found they didn't do this so it must be a regional thing. DanT
One thing I've noticed with mass advertising is that you get quite a few tire kickers. Estimates take time and you can find yourself going to a lot of customers that don't intend to hire you. Some don't know what things cost, others just want to see if their brother is over charging. Word of mouth is the best advertising.
That is true so what has to happen is you need to develope good phone screening techniques (spelling?!) to combat that. On our tub liners we give them a ball park on the phone to eliminate the folks that think it will give them a new bathroom for $104.
But it also is the only advertising I have done in my area that generally hits the economic market I need to hit. So I use it. But I do think advertising is regional. DanT
