Here are a few pics of our new place and several of our shop/carport building that’s under construction.
Our pole barn type construction uses CCA treated (high retention 0.60) 6×6’s direct buried to 4 feet. Shop slab is a floor only, not a foundation. Shop is about 19’x34′ and the open carport/machine shed area is about 33’x34′.
I bought the 6×6’s last year when CCA was still available. The 2×12 rafters are mostly from a clear out at a local housing manufacturer that got in $ trouble. I paid about $11 each for 20′ – 2×12’s mostly #1. Many of them are clear. Some had huge crowns which I ripped a little to keep the roof reasonable flat. All rafters are 16″ oc and the skip sheathing on the carport side is 2×3 that also came from the defunct housing plant. I paid $1.10 each for 16′ 2×3. Shop roof has 1/2″ ply and felt under the steel roofing.

Good score on the materials.
Was the skip sheathing labor intensive and why did you swito ply over the shop.
I couldn't take the time to open up all the photos but what I saw looks nice.
Good luck with the new place.

It took two guys about 7 hours to put the skip sheathing on. It's shot down with two 12d's at each intersection. Used ply and paper over the shop because I plan to insulate the roof and it's not as easy to seal out insects, rodents and small birds if you put the steel right onto skip sheathing as if there's plywood.
Also, I don't use steel roofing over any important space without ply and paper under it. I know people report that it works fine, but I've only done it over carports and machine sheds. Even a barn is prone to dripping condensation if the roof is just steel. My climate is very dry and I won't do much to create moisture in my shop, so I'm not venting the insulation. You're unique! Nice! Just as when I was there, everybody working except you, whats up with that?
I'm a little envious of the shop/carport, whats the size of that?
I like the view of that last shot, nice view.

Hasbeen... A 1700+ sq.ft. shop? Yeah, I like it... very nice indeed. I'm like firebird tho... why the plywood just over the shop area? Seems like the purlins woulda done fine?
Nice place you got there, I like the last pic too.
