I recently received a new tool that I want to share with all of you. It is basically a base that has a zero to 45 or 75 degree angle adjustment similar to a skil wormdrive that mounts to a chainsaw bar. It is made of thick aluminum plate with an anodized steel mount, no plastic here folks.
Yeah, ok, call me a hack but in my business a chainsaw is a useful tool and I grew up in a logging family so they do not scare me either. This tool will replace my wormdrive/chainsaw that I have been using the last 3 years. The ability to have way more power on tap and 3/8″ pitch chain instead of the wimpy .325 pitch are key.
What this tool does is makes for a cordless saw that has an adjustable depth of cut and angles up to 75 degrees . With accuracy. I am using mine on a 4 hp Husky that will cut like a hot knife through butter and if correctly sharpened makes a surprisingly goodlooking cut to boot. I am also looking into carbide chain as most of my cutting is in engineered woods that are hard on standard chains due to the resins.
This setup is not for trim and cabinet work, but timber framers, logheads, SIP installers and for gang cutting ala Larry Haun this unit is the goods. Also would make a nice cutoff saw for TJI’s etc. in any lumber yard.
Unit is being produced by Big Foot in Nevada, (702) 565-9954.
