Head flashing for unusual trim detail
I have a client that wants to add head flashing to his windows. Problem is that there is a triangular detail in the way (see photo). The trim build-up includes a 2×6 with brick mould applied as a crown. There is existing flashing directing water to the outside of the 2×6, but the inside of the brick mould and a saw kerf for water drainage behind the triangle piece. At some point, this drainage was caulked and painted closed. Now, the trim is beginning to rot. Any suggestions?

I assume the brick mold trim is rotting? Saw kerf is at the bottom of the brick mold and triangular detail? If so, can you remove the caulk to reopen the drain channel with an oscillating multi tool? How about redoing the crown and triangular piece out of PVC...include weep/drainage holes? Is the 2 X 6 ok? If not, how about PVC for that too?
