Customer want her closet door opening widened. Currently six ft wide w/ louver bifolds, want it to be nine ft wide with sliding mirror doors. Suggesstions as to the header? Not a load bearing wall, except for the weight of the doors.

this will be overkill, double 2x6 on edge especially if doors are hung from top of jamb
Yes, the doors will be hung from the header. Overkill? Actually I was thinking about double 2x8.
FYI, I have discovered that Stanley makes mirror doors for wide openings. The sales literature only shows to 8 ft, but if you dig deep enough you will find that they offer even feet to 12, and they will custom cut any dimension. Price for a 9 ft three panel frameless unit with beveled glass edges is about $350.

I don't know what your head room situation is , but 2 x 6 is good enough.
However I would go with 2 x 8, not because of the weight , but because of the span. I would just feel better about it.being over 8' long if I had the headroom. i am asuming this is for a finished Basement or somthing? 2 x 8 has more stability."I was born in the country, razed in the city, I'm a natural born shaker from my hips to the ground"
You won't believe this. Customer (lady) has a nice fairly new house. 9 ft ceilings. Bedroom closet currently has 6 ft bifolds, but there is about 20" of space on each side of the door that is hard to access, so she wants a new opening cut in that is as wide as possible. 9 ft leaves about 3-4 inches on each end, so that's how we arrived at that number. There's plenty of room for 2x8, so that's what I'll use.
$350 sounds good.
Have you considered mortised bottom rollers? Much easier to install and adjust and because the top rail is just a guide and does not support the weight of all that glass you don't get the call-backs to repair cracks in the joints.
