Can someone direct me to the appropriate UBC Table? I am trying to determine header size requirements for an L shaped addition to our house. Wall framing is 2 X 6, with Cathedral ceiling, I joist rafters- 18′ horizontal span, 4/12 pitch. Ridge beam 5″ X 16″ run length 17′. The ridge beam will end in exterior end wall over a sliding glass door. Most tables only list double header loads, how about a triple header? Thanks.

When I needed a similar information, the supplier connected me to the manufacturer of laminated beams who faxed over such information specific to my needs. This information was sufficient for the permit.

If you have info for 2 ply header loads, why not just increase the capacity by 50% ? A 3 ply header should carry 1.5 times the load of a 2 ply header of the same material.
BTW, this doesn't mean you can span 50% further - If you double the length of a header, the bending stress on the header is 4 times as much.
