Good day all,

I have been stymied by the following construction detail (see pic). One inspector says it doesn’t need a header above the door unless engineered plans say it does (my plans completely lack detail on this wall), one inspector says he thinks it does need one, and another simply will not answer. Does anyone out there have any good advice or code to quote that will help before I surgically insert a useless header this afternoon. BTY that is a 2-2×12 header above the window and the opening is 64”.
