   Can you read a wiring schematic?

   There should be a schematic on the inside of the compressor compartment access panel, or with the original installation papers.

   If you can't trace out the original wiring or read the schematic, call a pro. It will save you money in the end.

   Better start checking name plates, to make sure the voltage, phase and amperages all line up. After that I would look at the manufactures website.

   DIY advise:  Look/trace to see where the existing wires go (120, 240 neutral, ground???). Could be the old motor is 4 and 6 pole wound as a 2 speed, then you will be limited to one speed with the new motor.

   Then take your new motor and try it with different wire connections on 120/240, etc and see how it runs.  That's what I do.....  Hint: do the 120 test first, helps forthe breaker to be nearby. You can also take the end bell off the new motor to see which wire or winding the wire goes to, but ya gotta have a little clue how a motor works to do that, being you asked the question like you did, you likely don't want to try that.

   Then, hook the new motor into the circuit the way it ran best.

   2nd hint, if you don't have a clue if it is running correctly or not, go with the pro advice.

   scrape the kinda brown wire and see if it's kinda white?

   scrape the kinda orange and see if they are kinda white?

    what are the two orange wires hooked up to now in the original?

   old motor has two hots and two wires to the run capicator. i got a new motor that fits fine with these wires,

   old 3 wire motor i did not use, but there is a way i think.
