I have a 24 x 36 gambrel cape with a pellet stove in the basement. I currently heat the basement plus the two floors above with my Harman P61 pellet stove. I have the output of the stove ducted to the cellar stairs to heat the first floor and to the laundry shute to heat the second floor. I remove the cellar door and use the stairway as a heat duct to the first floor. This arrangement works quite well here in New England.
What I want to do is to keep the cellar door on the stairway for purposes of keeping small children safe. I want to add either open ducts or fans through the walls on either side of the stairway to allow the heat to move from the stairway into the living area on either side of it.
I have only been able to find two brands of fans for such purpose. One is a SunCourt which is a straight through fan. The other is a Tjernlund’s AireShare which uses the stud bay as a duct and allows the separate location of the intake and output.
Has anyone had any experience with either of these fans? I am concerned about efficiency and noise level. Also has anyone approached this problem in a difference manner?

Do note, though, that you want to be careful not to draw a vacuum in the area of the stove.
Your current method is working by passive means. Adding a mechanical component (fan) will complicate the system. If it was mine, I would find a way, like maybe one of those already suggested, to rely on natural convection as you are now doing.
