Hey all:
It’s time to replace the tires on my pick-up (Chevy Silverado 2500HD w/ towing package and running LT245-75 R16, load range E). I’ve been looking around and was looking for a little insight from other people who use their trucks for work as opposed to light duty users. I searched some of the old threads and followed a couple of links to places like tirerack.com. The problem/question that I have relates to tires with a load range of D or heavier. It appears that the heavier tires seem to behave completely differently (due to their heavier construction?) than do the tires that most guys use.
I use the truck 95% for work. I tow heavy trailers (dump & box), drive the typical lousy jobsite roads & driveways and during the winter I plow out those jobsites plus a few driveways for friends. I just put the Bridgestone Revo AT’s on the wifes ride and they are really great but when I researched them on the tire bulletin boards, the heavy load range tires got really bad reviews! So now I’m back to square one.
My question to you is this, you guys (& girls) who have similar trucks & use them like I do, what do you use & would you buy them again?
Thanks! BILL

I have used Firestone E range tires on all my trucks, Ford F250HD. I tow a 28' fifth wheel travel trailer and use a fifth wheel 20' +5' beavertail hauling logs and lumber. Never had a bit of trouble with Firestone tires just put on 13,000 mile trip to Alaska last summer. I think a lot of the Firestone troubles are caused by under inflation. Seems like the thinking now is, jump in the SUV, point it and floor it,never mind checking the tires.
