remember that small deck we did between the SGD’s and hot tub down in the Springs a while back???
by a round about way the HO got a hold of me and stated the deck was coming apart…
so I went and looked….
better than 40% of the HO provided HD screws were broken where the threads met the shank….
25% more of them broke backing out the ones that weren’t snapped…
almost all of them showed corrosion…
where we put the Vicor over the sistered joists the joists were pristine….
in short, this is a FYI….
and using HD materials is sabotaging yur own work…..
we be good to go now…

Not good. Fortunately, I haven't used any of those screws since then. Unfortunately, I don't know if the screws I have been using are any better, but so far, so good.
Takes an effort to use the right fastener in ACQ.
if you remember we used a couple of pieces of CCA and the rest was all heart redwood...
