To one & all,
So I think we are ready for prime time. We have spent the last few years developing speciality machines and techniques to fabricate handrails for circular stairs as well as level turns. We can make solid wood rails in about any shape and any profile. These rails are made of solid wood, not strips glued together. We have a number of projects “in the bag” so I am feeling confident that we could make these shapes for other stairbuilders to use. The Questions are … is there a market for this….. how do I advertise and promote this service?? Is there any interest in an article or seminar on how to make these shapes??
Thanks in advance
Ratchet

Seriously cool website Ratchet!
Of course it helps that the product is top notch...

Your website is very good but it is being let down by some very poor quality photography in this wonderful digital age were everyone is either a graphic designer or a photographer use a proper professional photographer you have obviously employed aweb site designer don't spoil it.

Ps I spent 30yrs as a commercial advertising photographer. You can make it fool proof but not idiot proof
very nice!

Nice work.
Isn't there a lot of waste when you segment rails instead of laminating them?
Do you use a W/H molder?Chuck Slive, work, build, ...better with wood
No we do not use a W/H molder. In fact I do not think it would work. not part of a helical rail is flat and all parts of it are twisted. I do not think that there is a great deal more waste segmenting rails versus ben laminating. By the way the segments can be quite long i.e. 95"
Thanks,
Ratchet
You should be able to test the potential market by talking to stairmakers in your area. Do you have any data comparing the cost of your handrails to laminated handrails?
My intuition (and it's often wrong) tells me that your handrails are more expensive so your potential market may be limited to the high end homes. If that's the case, you gotta guesstimate the size of that market and how much of it you can get.
I would also suspect that you'll get some resistance based on a reluctance to use something new. Builders know what to expect (cost, schedule, etc) from the "old way". There's always more risk (real or perceived) with new ideas.
Your pictures look pretty neat and I wish you well.
