Hi everybody,
I could really use some advise. Im working on a 2 story frame house with a brick veneer. Im adding an addition to the back of the house. Between the old and new building Im going to have a 14′ oppening supported by an I beam. Whats the best way to temporarily support the brick veneer above the steel?

Temporary support with a timber prop. In any case I'd be using an galvanized Arch Bar to carry the bricks over that span. You may also have to look at supporting or tying the Arch bar to that I beam. Don't forget the DPC and weepholes to protect the opening.
What exactly is an arch bar?
basically a steel angle iron, though a true arch bar has deformed pressings to increase the loading capacity.
