We are currently working on house plans. Our house is a ranch style with 6/12 pitch on the main roof, it’s a gable roof . We have a 8/12 pitch open truss carport attached to the back, also gable. My question is. Would a 9/12 open truss gable porch or 8/12 pitch look better? It would be the front porch and main focus of the house. The porch is 23ft long. Front of house is 53ft long. Any advice is welcome. Thank you.

Go with 8, even numbers are always better!
…sorry, couldn’t help it. I think you might be overestimating the ability we have to imagine your scenario though. Maybe if you had an architectural drawing you could upload, someone might be able to help, but without that it feels like trying to imagine two different paint colors.
Here is one of our drawn up pics. Overall roof pitch says 5, but we are increasing it to 6.
If you can, increase the pitch on the porch so that the ridge is even with the house ridge.
