*Mark, Just what does wiring have to do with slate, or is this an "inside" joke? The link I gave him had a cheaper slater's tool.Billy
*is that a slater's tool... i thot it was a slater's thief..isn't the slater's tool the special hammer that is also a punch and rasp for roughing out the slates and making the nail holes ?the thief is just like a shingle thief only slimmer and longer
*Mike, you're right. I think this is what Bobski was talking about though. He was a bit unclear.Allyson, Bobski has a wiring problem.http://webx.taunton.com/WebX?128@@.ef0319bI've seen cheaper slating tools than Amazon, but can't remember where. I bought one from Brookstone about 20 years ago. Now all they sell is yuppy toys.
*thanks for all the help! over in the other discussion room i had a wiring question. it appears our friend killed two birds with one stone. thanks! ok, clarification...i was told the nomenclature for the tool i needed was called a slaters tool. some now tell me its a slaters bar. i need to remove the broken slate tiles so i can slip in a new one. the one i need looks like a flat bar that has 2 hooks on either tip for cutting or pulling the nails out under the good slate. does this help any? regards to all that are helping.
*it was the shingle (slate) thief in the tools above....
*I have a couple in my shed , come on over you can have one. PA. If this is a few pieces of slate and a one time thing , you could get this done with a steady hand and a saw zaw or just a normal flat bar, its easy. Good Luck.
*Here's a cheaper tool from trend lines.http://www.trend-lines.com/shopItemDetail.asp?SID=&txtQueryID=mt24&txtProductID=MT24&selCategory=&txtKeyword=&selPrice=&abspage=1&shopperid=TUKVQVRE2ES92NWF00UG3QTAN6NJCJV5Good luck Bobski!
