Help, Need advice on an old Wards Radial

I was recently given an old (20 yrs) Mont. Wards 10″ radial arm saw. The saw had been stored in a garage for 18 yrs. It cut thin ply wood with no problem but the blade (not the motor) stalls trying to cut even a Doug Fir 2x 4 , new carbide blade didn’t help. I am thinking this saw has a belt drive gear reduction .. any help out there for me? Are parts still available and has anyone ever worked on one of these units that showed the same problem?
Thanks!!

Pull the covers and see if there's a belt. If so, replace the belt. Should be a standard size, more or less.
if it isn't belt dtive but a gear drive instead...
check to see if the gears are tight on the shafts.. loose set screw or pin..
loose press fit... repair it with loctite gray..
check to see if the moter is wire for the correct supply voltage..

If not a belt drive, there may be a friction clutch that's in need of adjustment. Just don't overtighten it if you find one.

don't remember them having friction clutches...
smell any burning when it stalls during a cut...

FWIW I have never seen nor heard of a radial arm saw that was not direct drive.
but i been wrong once or twice before..."Dogs don't follow an emotional leader. They follow the dominant leader. We are the only species that follows an unstable leader. "

I'll take a look when I head to my shop. PAHS Designer/Builder- Bury it!
I recall thinking about this saw back in the eighties. It was never known for its power delivery, so do all the above, but don't expect too much

You can find a copy of the operators manual for the old MonkeyWards saw at OldWoodWorkingMachines website as a PDF file.......(No belt drive)

Thanks, I will check the site out.
I just looked at the PDF for this saw, reduction gear drive( I am guessing nylon )thru a "jack shaft" , now all I have to do is decide if the saw is worth the time to dimantle and repair or relegate it to the junk bin.
I appreciate all the help , especially the lead to the PDF site.
Look for electrical problems.
Are you trying to run it on an extension cord? Or is the receptacle a long distance from the panel?
If not there, then check the cord, and switch connections.
