Am I losing it?
Few the last few months in FH magazine, I’ve noticed ads from an interior door company showing a sliding interior door on tracks, but mounted on the OUTSIDE of a wall – just like a pocket door, but not within the wall cavity. I remember thinking it was an odd idea, and noticed the ad in several issues, but paid no attention to it at the time.
Now I have a project with all sorts of odd applications, and this would fit right in. Can I find the ad I kept noticing? No way. Don’t remember the name of the company either, but I know it was in the magazine for a few issues this year.
I’ve flipped thru all my mags, can’t find it again!
Any help? I just want to check it out in more detail.

Naut,
Last summer I had a job that called for a pocket door separating Kitchen/Laundry. Both sides of the opening the wall was filled with electric and plumbing. I thought about improvising a surface mounted sliding door to the inside of the Laundry. Checking for hardware (barndoor style) I came across what was the link above. Contact Johnson Hardware in Indiana (you might be talking to Mr. Johnson) about your needs.
The door hardware works well, dreaming up the way to finish the inside is the only thing they won't help you with.
On the job, one side of the opening had a closet wall, the other side a ways down had an inset flatscreen cubicle (from the Kitchen). I bought one long track, two pkgs of roller hardware/keeper etc and made up two doors for a converging pocket door set up. Had to cut the wall out of the closet corner and run one door into that space. The other half door came right up to the tv bump out.
Pure genius the homowner claimed.
Snowed another one.
