Got my hopes up big when one of the clients called saying they needed me to come measure and build an entertainment center for a new plasma screen tv.
Long story short all they wanted was a coffee table size base and my price motivated them to go to a local cheap furniture store and buy a Sauder 'u-assemble' P.O.S.
I got to come back the next day and put a piece of weatherstrip on one door and 2 brass kick plates on two others. They had the material already, musta felt guilty. Made $65 for an hour work.
End of story no other calls so I'm just here sittin here on my Assetts. I'm really tired of this business sometimes and yet there is nothing in the world I'd rather do than carpentry work. I should have dropped the hammer the day my father first put it in my hand. But I was 3 and it looked so.... pretty.
Seems were both unemployed. Their taking about what time they go to work over there > and I cant even post . LOL. I turned the stuff in this morning and did some errands . Thinking bout a nap, but mind is racing.
I was hoping for good results from the mailers for ya. You gotta sign on your truck?

Ya a big nice sign on the door. Sorry for the end of your job but from what I read it can only be better. Good luck to you to.

Here's an update on me,old jagwah. While searching the countryside for trim and cabinet work I stumbled apon a place where trim carpenters go to die, ( not Pamela Andersons bedroom, darn it).
I ran across a contractor that was a cub like me, we were working on the same job 28 years ago only he did a lot better since financially. It seems he's in his 3rd or 4th year building this residence. The place is a little over 28,000 sq feet!
They have a lot of trim carpenters everywher and he offered work putting the kitchen together. This place is sweet.
A lot of you here have been around homes of this caliber so you'll understand if I can't get any photo's to post. I'll try but my understanding is the house is wired for sound and cameras everywhere, that'll keep ya from p'ing in the corner.
As to carpenter heaven that has to do with the level of craftsmanship I'm seeing. The general attitude from everyone has been, over the top kind and helpful. I haven't ran into anyone yet with an attitude. All I see is patience, quality, and kindness.
Must be a set up. Looks like I have till May to finish the kitchen then we'll see if I get anything elsa. Hours are 7am-3:30. Still will leave me timeto work on my own commissions.

That's great news! It happens that way sometimes.. Before Christmas I thought we wouldn't make it through into the new year. Then two jobs which I'd thought were no hopers came through, and now I've two or three months work ahead of me.
Goes to show, as long as you are out there asking for work then you might just get some
John
