Hey Stan, does a gyro do this?

Sphere | Posted in Photo Gallery on March 28, 2007 09:05am

Here are pics of the SB being broken, High speed film I suppose. You’ll notice, the Sound barrier can also be SEEN as well as heard.

So Piff, might want to see as well, I will refrain from embedding.

Wow,

So, does this gray wave or whatever you'd call it go past your window?

What's it look like from inside?

I've only crossed mach a few times, and it is over before you know it. Unless you are still approaching at a relatively decayed attack. Then you will know exactly when, but not where, you met the force.

There is too much going on to visualize anything, at about 780, you are on feel of the structure, not what is going on outside. The pressure is pretty extreme...thank Chuck for G-suits.

The "Vomit Comit" does a parabolic extreme to get zero-G, and that is not at mach 1, nor even close. When ya get an after burner T/O, off a Cat, you could see 4-5,+ G.  A hard decending bank, can get ya 11..and there ain't too many that go back and do that again, if they live.

It all depends on the airframe you are holding on to at the time..I guess the new stuff must be a boy toy from heaven. I've been gone from it since '86, so I aint the one to ask.Inmate # 40735 At Taunton Federal Penitentiary.

Hi Sphere, Never new you were a pilot, I have a little experience in cessna's....+2 gs would freak any passenger to the max, always positive gs never negative. Flying cessnas to military aircraft would be like holding your grandmas hand compared to french kissing Ann Nicole Smith (alive). stinky

            Howdy neighbor.

Yup I was a 90 day wonder and gave 5.5 Yrs. farting around on the US dime.

I uh, wanted to be a fast cat, but , settled for fish farts...I had a P3-A Orion in hand, and pretty much flew in circles. Not very exciting.

Them pics were a shot in email to me, I cannot verify the authenticity, other than the bottom net address that is there. and I have yet to go there and look around.

Dang, I misplaced your # somehow..you still have mine?  Give a ring if you want, here all night....we can talk paint and such.  Matter of fact, I need to be at slopping on a pickeling on a porous Obeche', as we speak.Inmate # 40735 At Taunton Federal Penitentiary.

I hope it serves as a launching point for my freedom from this exile from the tavern tomorrow, or the next day.

When I leave this cell, I am breaking some waves of and getting my wings back...

I bet this sinus infection wanes as well.

So, your 6 y.o. wants to be fast?  LOL  gee, where'd that gene come from?Inmate # 40735 At Taunton Federal Penitentiary.

      1. StanFoster | Mar 29, 2007 02:56am | #10

Great shot!    No...my gyro wont go that fast.,..but the tips of the propeller will almost go supersonic.   The rotor blades go around 400 mph at the tips.

The cloud is the water vapor condensing instantly as the pressure drops rapidly.   You can see vapor trails coming off the wings of high performance jets when doing high load maneuvers.  Watch an F-16....they have these condensation trails all the time when they are pulling up.

You can see them on an airliner as it gets to high angle of attack.

        Stan

Cool pics. I had no idea. Does the humidity have anything to do with this? What is the "cloud" we're seeing in the pictures?

    1. User avater
      Sphere | Mar 29, 2007 03:24am | #11

At altitude, water vapor or "humidity" condenses on cold surfaces, one of the conumdrums of aeronautics, not easily explained is that the friction of atmosphere, will heat the skin of the craft ,  I.E., a Blackbird at top end ( about mach 3 they say) will have it's Titanium skin glow cherry red...while flying at 60K Ft above mean sea level, which the temps are -60 F or less.

I am not gonna speculate, what the relative Humidity might be for these photos. I have followed a pressure wave, but the timeing, was not measureable by me, and I have never seen, that particular phenomenon. IRL.

      I do know, I have Pee'd, sharted, and nose bled...maybe that's why I wasn't looking ahead.Inmate # 40735 At Taunton Federal Penitentiary.

      1. MisterT | Mar 29, 2007 03:39am | #12

I read that one of the reasons the blackbirds had such a long service life was that every time they flew they got "heat treated"
cool stuff..I don't Know what I am doing

        But

I am VERY good at it!!
