I screwed up the first try. I forgot the jpg suffix. Anyway, here’s what I do with CVG Fir stair tread. Panels are Red Cedar.

Hey Dave, can we get something just a bit larger than the view from Lilliput ?

CVG fir stair tread? So where are the stairs? Or can we assume that you have a great source for CVG fir, and it happens to be stair tread stock, and this is how you use it?
Dont tell me the floor is also the same material

OK, It looks like I wasn't firing on all cylinders this a.m. when I posted. Here they are a bit larger. The wood comes from standard Fir treads, I use it because it's a full inch thick and I can flatten a face without ending up with too thin material. Otherwise, it's a half days ride to get the stock in the rough.
Dave, looks good, Love that sink, is it real soap stone?

Yep, the fabricator built the sink on-site. I had almost forgotten about this job until I opened the local paper and saw my job on his(Soapstone dealer) ad.
Dave,
Nice stuff, I have always loved the look of CVG doug fir.
Those floor tiles vct or cork?Mr T
Do not try this at home!
I am an Experienced Professional!
Not sure what exactly the floor material is other than that it is some extra high quality Linoleum.
Dave, I like it.......Good work.......I also like that stock pot!and the wall shelves.........Those make it real handy to get to things........
Heh Heh, I never got back to get photos until this past week, been almost a year now. Sure does look lived in.
Hey, any kitchen that doesn't look lived in is a kitchen not used!!
You really have to do something about those towels.....<g>
The next time I see the owner, I'll mention it. :^}
I'm just getting back to these beautiful photos again and saving them to my kitchens folder. A lot of the hundred year old places around here have CVG Fir kitchens with wood or slate or soapstone sinks and tops. Yours look great. I like open shelves too..

Whythanks Piff, I'll take the compliment. :^}
CVG Fir is one of my favorite woods to look at, it can be a real pain to work with though, because it is fairly brittle and splintery. Here is some other work I've done using it.
I've also got some photos of a staircase and ballustrade I built for the same house, but I'll have to scan the photos(pre-digital camera era).
Dave
That's real nice work....that's not a mistake, it's rustic
Thanks, I aim to please. Just don't forget to sign the check.
Sorry, I forgot to ;^} at you . Hope you didn't take that the wrong way.

Whaa!
isn't kissin' up good enough for ya??????????
I made a headboard for my daughter with it, full of nooks and crannies and a couple of secret compartments, for the fun of it.
Right about splintery! I got a pickup load of it once when another builder got sick of trying to mil it out. He was running too deep and too fast with his cutters and blaming it on the wood.
Gotta read the grain, sharpen the bits, and listen to the wood..

Well OK, kisses will do in your case(just keep it quiet though, huh?). ;^}
You can always count on a bunch of splinters when working with Fir, I've even gone so far as to wear a leather glove on my guide hand when ripping a lot of it. After a week or so they fester up enough so you can squirt them out though. :^}
Yah, Fir festers just fine!.
Excellence is its own reward!
You can bet I got a few splinters out of this little project. Stan Foster I'm not. :^} I may have botched the scan job, but here goes;
Oops.
Ooops,Duhhhh,
Heart pine reclaimed on floor?.
Excellence is its own reward!
Yep, nice stuff. Expensive,too.
