Bob, care to share any details of the ledger around the chimney? Did you do any special flashing and how did you attach/support your beams there?Quality repairs for your home.

I'll post a picture of how we box framed around the chimney later this week Aaron. Is is not flashed, but just spaned 5' from the 2x8 joists on each side.....
Pictures to follow..............."Rather be a hammer than a nail"

Nice work as usual. The pipe rails are a great detail. Living in Northern NJ, the land of McMansions with PT decks tacked on, it is nice to see your deck pics.
I don't understand the earlier guff about your brackets. They clearly reduce the bending stress on the beams and reduce the unsupported length of the post adding strength and stiffness.
Oh, and those hats are great....that's not a mistake, it's rustic
I am very impressed. You guys go the extra mile. Deck guys around here are handyman hacks. I love the black aluminum. That is cool and looks so good with the wood. Do you have a website? How do you fasten to the house. There has been a about 10 people dead around here from decks falling. They slip away from the house because they are not fastened properly. Imagine holding a wedding reception and having 40 guests pilled up on top of each other pinned against the house.

Thanks AceCan, This deck has a ledger bolted to the house with 3/8 X 4" bolts and washers every 12" one up and the next one down .
Most guys that have a website will post it in their profile. You can see their profile by clicking on their blue forum name.
My site is http://www.pro-dek.com
I am sending more pictures of decks we have done to Luka so he can attach them to my site.
Thanks for following along. "Rather be a hammer than a nail"

Nice,, Clean,, work, congrats!!, Question ,, do you come back and install a separate handrail system. I'am just curious, for around here, there is the issue of "graspibility" you know Pro-Deck,, 1 3/8" round. Sweet work that you post. Jim J
