I asked this question in “General discussion” a couple of days ago with only two responses.
I have used a lot of Hilti products and think most are great.
Do you use a Hilti cordless drill and what do you think of it? Is it worth the extra bucks?

Geez, TK, I don't think we're in Kansas anymore. It feels so . . . alone. We must be the only 2 guys who ever heard of Hilti.
Not that it matters, but lacking responses, you might as well have some humor. John & I (John & I've been working with the last couple of months on a church) were getting ready to depart for lunch one day, halfway to the truck and John stops, gets this wide eyed look and says "OH GOSH, I gotta go get the bible so I can read it over lunch." Now this strikes me as a little off center. Granted, we're working on a church, but he's not the type to go grabbing bibles for lunch time reading. He darted into the church and came back out a moment later, book in hand. It was the Hilti catalog. I'm rubbing off on him, methinks.

I have a Hilti hammer drill that was made by Metabo, Excellent tool.
If their cordless drills are made by Metabo also they should be a top notch tool, Metabo placed second in the recent FHB test of cordless drills.
How much more do they cost?
The Hilti service and a quality tool would be worth a premium to alot of tradespeople.

They cost more than your average tool. IMHO, they're more than average tools. The cordless was a gift, so DK cost on that. The powder gun, a DX36M, is a semi automatic style the feeds off of strips, the gun plus 1000 pins & boosters was close to $800. You can put Ramsets through them, or buy in minimum 1000 lots. The cost varies with what pin you want. DW track hi-hats are about $135, 3" nails for sill to concrete are about $290 per thou.
The hammerdrills span the gamut, a little one like a TE5 retails for $650 but you probably won't pay that if you actually have an account with them. The TE76 which is a combihammer/breaker is about 1200 with a starter set of bits. Comparable Bosch or DeWalt in that size of body are around 700 without the bits. But you can jackhammer a basement floor out with the 76. I don't know if the others have that much whallop or not.
The laser I got was actually less than comparable stuff available around town for the same features. That was a shock. Maybe the rep just liked me that day. Horiz & vertical use, so you can lay out walls or ceiling grid, self levels, 90 deg. beam, and both visible and invisible beams shoot. One you see, the other you grab with a box when you're 200 feet away.
I'm leary of the Hilti made by Metabo - never heard of such a thing. May be true, just news to me.
