If anyone’s been looking at lasers lately, I have to give a plug for Hilti. As always, did some research beforehand, and decided on theirs. They recently changed their lineup and now have a model 16. The body is bigger like the 60 if you were familliar with those, but the price is more like the old 15’s, which are discontinued.
The beam was clearly visible over 100ft away indoors and remained narrow. There are two catchers you can get with it. One literally catches the laser and makes it go back and forth over a small area which makes things easier to mark, the other is for outside and longer distances. With the tripod, pole, and bracket for ceiling grid, it was still less than Sokkia or Spectras with similar options.
Other neat gizmo – XY adjust. Put in on your track, turn the head to the end of the line, you’re not quite on it? Press the button until you’re on the mark. Start spinning.
We’re always comparing tools here, what’s good and what’s not. This gets a vote for good.
