Anybody else bought this system? I bought it and was initally pleased. Now I can’t seem to get the glue to run. I read the manual, left the gun in the base for an extended period of time,, stuck a large nail in the glue cartridge, tried a new cartridge, etc., no luck.
Previously, I had the same problem to a lesser extent. I ended up stripping the serrations on the plunger because I kept squeezing the glue trigger with no result. I reversed the plunger to get the serrations on the other side – still, no glue.
Anybody else with this problem? Is the gun defective? Is it normally this hard?
Any replies greatly appreciated
Ben

You might want to ask this over at JLCONLINE.com in the Finish Capentry section.
I know that Gary Katz and several others use it and have discussed some of the problems and work arounds.
ben,
bill is right, there have been two recent discussions of this glue at jlc.
there was actually a rep from the company participating in one of the discussions. you might contact her and see what she could do for you.
good luck.
Gorilla glue. No muss, no fuss.
No comparison.
There is a lot of muss an fuss with Gorilla.
But with Gorilla can you apply it and hold the joint with your hands for 30 seconds and then go on to the next step?
You're right, even Gorilla glue requires clamps.
I considered getting the HIPURformer system when it first came out (I'm a sucker for new gadgets,) but feedback I've heard on the system have not been all that positive. (Your problem, as an example.) I guess I'll wait until the bugs have been worked out of the system before I spring the bucks.
http://forums.taunton.com/tp-breaktime/messages?msg=20747.5 is a thread which also talks about it, for those interested.

Gorilla Glue all the way. I agree. Tricks are to dampen the hardwoods first with water. Second is use less than you think it needs cause it expands alot.
Third squeeze the air out of the bottle when your done for the day and keep it stored upside down. I use a block of 2x6 with a hole drilled in it the size of the spout as my glue bottle holder. Can't believe that company doesnt have an attachment like that for the bottle. Instaed they now make tiny bottles of the stuff.

In his first interview since the stroke, Ram Dass, 66, spoke with great difficulty about how his brush with death has changed his ideas about aging, and how the recent loss of two old friends, Timothy Leary and Allen Ginsberg, has convinced him that now, more than ever, is the time to ``Be Here Now.''

Economics 101. They get more profit for selling the smaller quantity.
I made what looks like a cupholder (donut shaped piece of plywood screwed to another pc of ply) and screwed it to my bench. The bottle fits inside the cupholder upside down, always ready for a squeeze.
I've read where placing masking tape along the seam can lessen the work when the stuff bubbles out, but I've never tried it. Too lazy. It sands well enough I don't mind the extra work.
