Anyone own or use the current version of this machine? The older cast iron F100 version is apparently no longer available in the US. The new one is about $1200. My only experience so far is with the DeWalt 13″ planer which I would say is OK and no better. This would be mostly for site work with a little bit of shop time, mostly trim and cabinet work.

bought one a few years back....not home yet, but will be in a few days & can send you model # & my thoughts if you like...
I had wanted the Makita combo, but it was no longer imported...
the Hitatchi is only barely portable, and the jointer table is pretty short, but I don't regret buying it....
I agree that the Hitachi is barely portable. A guy I worked with had one and it didn't come out of the tool trailer very often. It seems that a separate small jointer and planer of equivalent quality could be had for less money.
