theyrrrrrrrr GREAT !
*Ron I just bought a Hitachi compact 1/2 inch right angle drill and I LOVE it...
*Anyone for a 15" trimsaw? Best offer.
*Mike (Hitachi) Smith talked me into buying a new Hitachi roofing nailer. Two houses down and I really like it! Actually, I bought the new lightweight gun because I already have a couple of anchors. It is the nicest little nailer you could use. Plenty of power, but under 4#. Basically, they just stripped all the useless stuff like shingle spacers etc. that you never use and replaced a few pieces with plastic. I will trade its ease of use for a few more plastic parts any day!
*Their SCMS was the industry standard for years, still a good tool. I Have not used the new dual slider. But it looks like a good one also.I just retired my 14 year old 9.6 volt cordless because two new batteries are mor than i paid for the drill. That drill has fallen off ladders and roofs mor time than I can remember, Just bounces and keeps on running Ithink Hitachi took quite a setback in the early 90's when they lost a court case with Crap&decker and had to raise their prices until they built a plant in the US. I feel their tools are at least on a par with Makita as far as quality and reliability. I am considering one of their new cordless drills when my Default dies.MHO mr T
*I work around a couple of trim carps who use a H 15g trim gun and they swear by it, I also have a 15" H miter saw (heavy) that I'd take a 100 bucks for.
*About 8 years ago, I had the opportunity to work with some automotive engineers from Japan. We talked about various Japanese brands and they said Makita is considered a low end product in Japan - that Hitachi is the equivalent of Milwaukee in this country - in other words, a good heavy duty product. Tha being said, both Makita and Hitachi machines are now being made here for this market so it is hard to say if it holds true that Hitachi is better than Makita. What's missing in both brands is first to market - they are not innovators but instead are great copiers of existing products. On the other hand, Milwaukee and Porter Cable are introducing completely new machines (not just rehases of old ones).
*Hitachi tools are excellent quality tools. The air nailers are the best I've ever used. I have a 1/2" hammer drill that's among the toughest tools I have ever seen. The lock-on button is in the worng place, though and often gets pushed unintentionally. I have a trimmer router that's a superb tool though a bit awkward in the hand. We've been running one of those 8" SCMS's for 10 years without a problem. I haven't yet seen a bad Hitachi tool.Ed, I think Makita is a low end product here. too. Except for their SCM saws and some of the routers.
*Like the Hitachi roofing nailer.
*I've got a Hitachi jackhammer that has worked out great. I couldn't resist a Hitachi 1/2" hammer drill from Tool Crib for $69. It is made in in China and I really don't like it. It's got a cheap feel to it.The Wood Doc
*I've been watching Hitachi for some time now. I don't own any yet but have been becoming more and more impressed with what appears to be quality upgrades. I don't think China made tools are quite there yet but then China is the latest of the Far East countries to get into manufacturing for a U.S. market. They will improve over time as did Japan, Taiwan and Korea.
*I have been running two NR83 framing nailers for four years now , they have not let me down once. Love them
*I've used every brand of framing nalier I've ever seen or heard of and I'll never buy anything but Hitachi. They hit hard, shoot fast and last and last andlast. I love em.
*Anyone use their brad nailers? I'm in need of a new one, and was looking pretty hard at the hitachi. Can't seem to find anyone local that stocks them so that I can even look at one.
*Wedgehead, I don't know where to get one in your area but, I bought one recently and I like it alot. I got the 2" 18 gauge.
