I am using my old setup room to work on another gyrocopter this fall and early winter. I always try to find a winter project as these are as much fun to work on as curved stairways. Both will get me up in the world.
Heres an ugly shot of the cabin and tail just getting its final coat of paint. I have been working on this for a few weeks and have lots to do. All the controls are yet to be installed….the rotorhead and blades….and many numerous details. I bought this off an estate deal…and I am going to sell it when I am done.

Stan! you have read my mind...was just thinking about your last project. That pretty red bird and its birth. Bring it on .I know pics and posting takes time, but you have a cult following here. stinky
Hey...if you are interested....I will keep posting. Here are two more messy pictures. I will be uncovering it soon...putting on some nice pinstripes....and reworking a bunch of stuff.

is this a craft that was ever flown? or an unfinished project? restoration?
I can see trusting something you laid hands on every part... but trusting the hands of others??? think i'd have to take it down to the last screw and put it back together if someone else built it and it never flew....
or... was it the reason there was an estate?
I'm sure more here than me are interested in the history of this bird...
keep up the posts

ponytl: This gyrocopter has over 135 hours logged in the air. The pilot had just landed..and his attention was diverted....and the machine tipped over at just a couple mile an hour. When you land with these things....you are going at a walking pace...but the rotors are still at flight speed. If you move the cycli...it will tip over. This is what happened...the rotor struck the ground and twisted everything above the cabin. I am completely rebuilding the whole top end with brand new parts.
New blade....new control rods...new everything. It will be as good as new when I am done.
I have rebuilt several of these and all flew fine. There are some basic rules to follow...a hang test is one. There will be no doubt it will fly safely.

I put the rear window in today...and de papered after the paint job was done. Its shaping up. Lots of technical stuff now...this painting is just cosmetic.

Stan your white bird is coming along at a much faster rate then your aircraft did..I know this project is not from the bottom up. Do you actually install the nav/com electronics also? This has to eat up huge amount of man-hours....very interesting thanks for posting.
Stinky; I dont have to do any of the wiring like had to on my own gyrocopter. I just am replacing the damaged parts from when the rotor got into the dirt and fliped it on its side.
I enjoy working on these and getting them back into the air.

I am offering this to my gyro buddies on another forum before its completed. Ohterwise it for sale on Barnstormers in December or E-bay.

Is it done already? Do you have to put "X" number of hours on it for it to be re-certified?

John: It not done...lots of msc. stuff. I am shut down on it as I think its sold as is. This will be easier for the new owner to get the FAA paperwork done.
