Buy it! I've never had an issue with a Honda motor. What do you have to lose, other than a grand....
Treat every person you meet like you will know them the rest of your life - you just might!
I think so .After all its only a couple of outlets and a gas tank other than the motor an it has a four year warranty.
All can tell you is you can't beat a honda. I have 3 a 2500 watt a 5000 and a 6500. I've had the the 5000 for 20 years.
Remember...there's a BIG difference between a generator with a Honda engine and an actual HONDA brand generator!!!
honda, yamaha, kabota.... you will not go wrong.... sure there are others but.... any of these 3 and ur in good shape for a very long time in my experience....
i'd rather have a used honda than a new anything else
p
I have a 5000 watt honda, a 2200 watt honda, and a 5500 watt honda "powered " genset. All three are almost bullet proof. The 5000 watt is over 15 yrs. old.

That's what i need someone who has both the honda with honda frame and tank and works, and a honda engine with other manufac. parts. How old is the 55 and how does it rate with the honda 5000?
the honda 55 is 6yrs. old. It is used for jobsite generation. Manual start no idle down feature. Seems to be a fine unit. Starts when I need it and not too heavy to lift in the truck. The 5000 honda is elec.start ,idle down feature, probably quieter and a $1000.00 dollars more. The wife can hook this one to the house and get things going easily. I like them both
Ty i think im going just buy it.Its going to get beat to crap on the job anyway.I'll just pay the 75 bucks for the ext.warranty
As 'dude' said watch out for the Chinese knockoffs. I made the mistake of buying one. It is difficult if not impossible to start. Also make note of the wiring configuration to meet your needs. Bonded neutral vs. floating neutral.
mahalo,
Not all the chineese generators are a bad deal.. My buddy has a two cylinder horizontal diesel engine like an old John Deere tractor motor (sounds like one too) that he's been using as standby power for his farm for the past decade..
He feeds it pure cooking oil that's been filtered. It produces a peak of 10KW and fires every time on the second crank..
around here they are selling all sorts of equipment with engines that look identical to honda engines without the name on them
turns out they are chinese knock-offs
