My hot air furnace is getting on in years(22yrs old) and im looking for a new, energy efficient furnace to replace it…..anyone have suggestions or ideas on this subject???

Assumming that you are happy with the performance of your current unit and your heating system in general (aside from its relatively low efficiency, possible parts obsolesence, and its getting up in years), call the mfg of your existing furnace and, with the label plate data "in hand", ask them which model off their current production line would be a "match".
This gives you a current standard with which to compare various brands - i.e. fuel consumption vice plenum heat output. Personally I'd go with a brand name, SS heat exchanger, and long warranty on the electronics.
