hot water heating in front of patio door
Does anybody have any ideas about heating in front of a 9′ section of patio doors. Hot water heat (existing) is the prefered method. I’m thinking an in-floor, site built enclosure with finned tube convection.
Thanks.

If the water is already hot....whats the heater for?

A few months ago I stripped a few things out of a house before it was torn down. The house had 9' sliding glass doors also, they had metal enclosures in the floor in front of each fixed glass panel with fin and tube in the enclosure exactly as you describe. They also had an opening in the bottom of the enclosure with a grill in the ceiling of the basement below, it looked like this was an add on. Maybe so the box would convect heat better? Unfortunately the heat was off as we were stripping out the wood boiler in the house so I can't say how well this system worked. But the fact that the home was 20 years old and their was no other heat sources leads me to believe it probably did the job.
