House designed with 400 year history

| Posted in General Discussion on May 16, 2000 05:31am

*
The design includes many different finishes to emulate an older estate that has been remodeled numerous times. Our client has been documenting the construction process with a web page. Check it out at http:www.Ravenwood.org. Click on the Project Description page, then click the Invented History icon. The web page is intended to share the design and building process with whomever is interested. The structure of the house is built with a insulated concrete forming system that let us form the many complicated curves and angles. It is a beautiful design and well worth a look. Please let us know what you think.

    Adam,

How do you get your post to move back to the top like that without responding to it, or having someone else do so ???

    : )

I was allowed to edit my discussion. This threw me back to the top.

Ahhh. That's the first thing I thought of. But then you posted this at one in the a.m. and your editing brought it back to the top at almost 9:30 in the p.m. I have never been able to edit any of my discussions for any longer than 30 minutes after I posted it, so I wondered if you had some other secret.

    : )

*LOL what a needy git you must think me to be. heheheThe reason I am asking about this post is because it is really peculiar that it would be this way. I am wondering if there is some sort of glitch in the script being used for this board, or if special favors are available to some, or if maybe our friend Adam knows a bit more about the inner workings of certain software than do the rest of us......Since I have absolutely no reason to not believe Adam in what he says, I have to assume there is some sort of glitch in the board's software, and have to wonder if this could be harbinger of problems in the future.....

    Luka,

Go back and read what Adam said. "I was ALLOWED to edit...". He did not say, "I edited..". To be ALLOWED to edit after 12 hours implies your suspicion of favoritism MAY be true. You may be on to something here... Just HOW did he get it back to the top? Only SYSOP knows. ummm... There may be a movie here. Call Oliver Stone, quick.

    LOL

    Bill,

Far as I am concerned, what I said in the earlier post notwithstanding, favoritism is none of my business. I am only concerned there might be a flaw in the board script. Especialy if it is one that could be hacked or could otherwise become a problem in the future.

The refernce, however couched, to favoritism as one of the possibilties was only there to be postulated as a possible acceptable answer. An 'acceptable' answer is exactly what it would be. I think that any of us, feeling dire need to edit something we posted would appreciate a friendly and understanding attitude from the sysop or admin...... I would think that any of us would be given equal consideration in such circumstances. Don't you ?

p.s. 1 am to 9:20 pm is 20 hours 20 minutes on my clock.

    : )

    Luka,

Its Wilm not Bill. Your :) aside you obviously were offended by my comments. I won't even go into explaining that it was intended to be good natured kidding, not a personal attack. Sorry.. no I'm not sorry. Do you obviously think that I would be so stupid as to attack something, anything, that a person said and not go to the trouble of having my facts right? Give me a break.

I can tell time. Plus count on my fingers. The 12 hours was just "a time". Not "the" time. There have been numerous posts concerning the way people on these sites get upset and angry. Sometimes I think this politically correct stuff has gone off the edge.

OK. If I have upset you, I apologize. I also left the nose out of the smiley face. At least yours had a space for a nose. Mind looks deformed. I guess that I could edit it but I won't.

Peace :>) and :-) and : ) Whoops! and ;>) And what does couched mean? Too lazy to look it up. If you had rather not answer, that will be OK too. :>)

    Luka and William,

When you start a new thread, you supply a New Discussion Title and a New Discussion Description. I could be mistaken, but I believe that you can edit the description whenever you want
i as long as no one has posted to the thread.
But as soon as someone posts, then you can no longer edit, even if it is one minute later. I'd swear I read this somewhere.

    Adam,

    Looks like a great project!

*Wilm,Sorry to have taken your name in vain. LOLBeing one of the more prolific purveyors of tounge-in-cheek, easily mis-understood posts here, I find myself in the position of having to be very careful of the words I choose....I am not/was not upset or offended. I did not take your post as any sort of attack, personal or otherwise. Political correctness aside, your own response is a good example of how the written word is so easily misunderstood, absent the 'body language', facial expressions, tone and inflections of voice available to all of us in face to face personal conversation.I fully understood the fact that you intended good-natured ribbing. I even took time to laugh before I responded. Yet what I wrote was so mis-understood by you that you assumed I was offended, and wondered if I thought you were 'stupid', and/or didn't have your facts right. What I was concerned with was what others might assume, given the content of both my previous post, and your response to it. ....That I was being overly concerned with whether anyone was being given favoritism. Which, made clear by my own words in the response to you, I really consider none of my business, and of interest only in light of the answer it may provide to the question. I was actualy thankful for the opportunity you had given me to see where my previous post could have been, and very possibly was, misunderstood. As for the time thing, well I guess I get a bit too picky sometimes. Sorry about that.Once again, you did not upset me, with either post. I hope this post has not angered or upset you in any way, as well. It is not my intention to do so.Couched simply means to say something without just coming out and saying it. In a round-about way, so to speak. Looking back at the post I referred to when I said that, I see that I hadn't couched it at all, but had come right out and said it. LOLPeace yourself, and thank you for your response.: )

      1. Guest_ | May 14, 2000 07:33am | #11

*DOH !!!Of course it would be something that simple. : )

Setting the stage- As the lights come up an old coot is sitting at the PC with a broad grin on his face.

    Luka,

Thanks for your responce. Point well taken. Thanks for defining "couching". I will ask about LOL another day, another time.

    Have a good day.

As the lights dim, a hand slowly reaches for the mouse. Click...But suddenly a pause... Thank you too, Rich. Click...And then the stage turns dark. Say good night Gracie. Good night Gracie.

    Adam,

It does look like a great project. Somewhere near my neck of the woods too. I'll have to make a time to run by and make sure you have all your p's and q's watered down sometime.
