Want to here something funny. A friend of the wifes has a house with a daylight basement. She wants another floor for more bedrooms in it. They just redid the kitchen on the main floor and put a new roof on it. I told her that was easiest to rip the roof off and add a second floor. Well some crack pot has told her it was easier to lift the entire house off the foundation and frame a whole new floor and walls and set the house back down on top of new frame. Here is the kicker part he will do it all for 10k. She is headed down a road of nothing but headaches I think I will call Mike Holmes to stand by he has a house to put back together.

10k, man, I knew things were not that great, but....
I think that's the charge to jack it up. Then they want another $50K to let it down again.
The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness. -John Kenneth Galbraith

That is the entire charge. Materials, lifting and framing. I can see a disaster in the making. I told her to run to the nearest exit. I don't think the guy understands what he is getting into. There is electrical, heating, plumbing engineering, permits, windows, doors, structural support to mention just a few things. I looked at a house about 15 years ago and the wanted in lifted and put a foundation under it and the set it back down all for a penny, my lifting costs were around 5000 then. Then there were all the other costs of road closure, where to put the dirt, trucking ect ect. How many houses have we heard that have colapsed from somebody not knowing what there doing. What happens if it does implode I bet the guy doesn't have insurance.
