I have two option right now for siding a new house in Palmer, Alaska ( not maritime ). Cedar, love the look. or composite (hardie) for durablility. What house wrap should i use that will cover me for either product? Felt, or “tyvek” type ???

To prevent moisture buildup and improve performance, install a continuous air barrier—such as drywall or specialized membranes—under tongue-and-groove boards or other interior wall paneling.

There's an "oral tradition" that cedar over Tyvek isn't good, though I don't believe anyone has found any facts to back that up.
Tyvek is fine under Hardie. Be sure to spend the extra time to tape all seams and around openings. Use either Tyvek tape or "contractor's sheathing tape" -- NOT duct tape.
FHB did an article a few years ago on Rain Screen Walls. A sidebar in that article gave the reason for not using Tyvek under cedar. Not sure about typar or some of the other wraps, they may be ok.
I'll see if I can find the issue with that article.

I think this is it. Your library should have back issues. Mine keep FHB for 4 years.
