I’ve got about 1000 sq ft of hardwoods that need refinishing in a house I’m buying in Houston, TX. That would be 2 rooms and a hallway. It is a nice 50’s ranch house, and when the finish on the floors wore down the owners pulled all the shoe molding off and just carpeted over everything. I havn’t rolled all the carpets back yet (I close on the 11th and can do that then) everything looks good so far except for the finish.
I want to hire this job out, never finished a floor before and I don’t want to get over my head.
I’m also looking for a sparky to run a few extra plugs ect, nothing huge.
The place will be empty for 1.5 weeks so plenty of time for things to get done.
Any names/numbers would be appreciated.

Don't live in the area, but have a suggestion.
In some areas, the term "sparky" is an acceptable nickname for an electrician.
In other areas it's considered insulting.
Since this forum has people from all over the US, you're bound to hit some of both groups.
Does an angry bride make veiled threats?
I didn't know it was insulting. My grandfather was an electrician and thats the term he always used.
It's probably a regional thing Boss. The electrician who did my house 10 yrs ago (for another builder) was referred to as Sparky or Lightning by all who knew him.
Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell'em "Certainly, I can!" Then get busy and find out how to do it. T. Roosevelt

That brought me a smile. In my grandfather's day, all Electrican's Mates (which included radio and radar operators) were known as "Sparks." (This is likely due to their having four sparks as a rating badge on their sleeves.) What you did not want to be called, as an EM rating, was "Sparky." As that was a conotation of how you did your work (like testing for live circuits with a screwdriver . . . )Occupational hazard of my occupation not being around (sorry Bubba)
Never heard that "sparky" was insulting, just that some people didnt like to be called that. I dont think its a reginal thing, just that some dont like nick-names.
John I can give you the number of an excellent company who can do a "dust less" job for you,if you don't mind paying top dollar... or I can dig up a number of a plain old floor finisher... I don't want to post their info so just "E" me at [email protected]
