Hey guys, what’s happening? I’m in the market for a jamb saw, and seeing as I’ve never used one, I’m hoping for some recomendations. I tried searching Breaktime but my puter is being rather hard to get along with. Thanks

I have a Crain Super Saw (made by Crain Cutter Co.) that I've had for about 6 years. It is made like a circular saw only the blade can cut flush with the edge of the saw. I have never had any problems with it and it has done everything I've asked it to do. This is the only jamb saw I've ever used so I'm not sure if there's anything better out there.
Hows about a pullsaw like this one:
McKenzie, I picked up a couple of offset handled hand jamb saws from one of the big boxes. teeth set on one side only and made to cut flush to the floor. Look like a large version of the offset handled dovetail saws. They work well enough for the occasional cuts . Maybe $20.00 when I got them. Found this link that has a pic of one. http://www.installertools.com/cgi-bin/INTstore.pl?user_action=list&category=Jamb%20Saw;Undercut%20Saws"Poor is not the person who has too little, but the person who craves more."...Seneca

For the occasional jamb, I have a Bosch Finecut flush saw. It's not specifically a jamb saw, but works well, and is a lot more versatile than one of the horizontal circular saws that the flooring guys lug around.
Second the Finecut. $100 at the box stores and it does other tricks too.
If I can get the height to work out right, I have used my biscuit joiner to cut off the trim. It's easy to shim higher, kinda tough to get closer to the floor.

Fein Multimaster. Not quite as fast as the Crain, but can get into almost any spot.

i had the crain saw that looks like a 7.1/4 saw on the flat and liked it... someone liked it more now they have it and i don't...
i do have one that looks like a 4.5" grinder with a guard like the crain and a wood blade that works well for a jam saw (it is a jam saw)and a ton of other very tight cut places...
i saw on like it at my local pawn shop almost got it another for a spare.... but i'm try'n not to have 10 of every tool these days...
