Help,
I’ll be coming home soon. It doesn’t look like Iraq is on my agenda and the army doesn’t need me anymore. The work for myself option has won out over the staying on active duty option.
My big question is; Does anyone know how things are going in north and central nj as well as eastern PA? I’ve been told it’s booming. Just wanted a little input from someone who doesn’t need me to do a big job for them. We all know how that goes ” Got plenty of work, you’ll be busy with me for months”. It always translates into ” i need this one big job done and then i won’t have a thing to do for months
Most of my work is new stairs and trim.
thanks, Robert

can't help with the job stuff but wanted to say THANKS! for the sacrifice you have made and the time spent away from home.
- The license plates now read "The Tombstone State" instead of "The Garden State"
- commercial parking lots are now ghost towns
- Million dollar plus homes for the Wall Streeters now post signs "Will Take Best Offer"
- people are climbimb trees and stealing nuts from the squirelles.
I have not seen it this bad since 1981 in New Jersey!
How about 87&88? slower than that?
Bob,
I meant 1989 instead of 1981 - sorry! 87 and 88 and 89 were about the same!
I'd guess things are the same all over. Great for the quality guys......slow for the low.
I'm in Pgh..across the state from ya......and I can't get the numbers out to people quick enough. Both compaines I sub for are booked solid...as per usual. Plenty of people still have money..and plenty of people still want their work done.
As a matter a fact...I just got yelled at by a lady that wanted me there that day. Times can't be too bad when people are mad you're not their quick enough to take their money!
Get back home.....do good work and hit up any and all of the local contractors...spend a day with the gas card and the portfolio.....everyone's looking for a good stair and trim guy.
I'd stop at homes just going up and those that look to be finished....as you know the stairs are one of the last pretty things put in...and they just might have been thinking about calling the stair guy at that exact moment.
I know of one guy in Pgh's that looking right now.
Probably a guy or two over your way........

Jeff,
I can never figure eastern PA out. Things run hot and cold.
On a brighter note it might not matter. God i hate sand. But, at least there i'll have a Bradley instead up this damn up-armored hummer ( 10,000 pounds and 195 horse power). anyone know what a camel looks like after a few 25MM HE rounds?
