I recently dropped a speed square on a vinyl floor, resulting in a small dent where the corner contacted the floor. So far I’ve considered mixing caulk with a little dirt to match the color, and filling it that way. It seems there must be a better solution. Anyone have one?
Thanks for your help.

Wet a towel. Fold it. Lay it on the dent. Put a hot iron on top of that for a few minutes. Long enough for the heat to get into the floor, but not long enough to burn it.

Luka,
Doesn't that work only for wood dents?
PS.....I still havent looked in my shed yet for those pump jacks but I didn't forget.
Be well

Luka is close. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to heat up the area, but not to hot . You should be able to touch it w/o burning yourself, then use a seam roller to roll away from the dent. This should soften the glue and vinyl enough to let it pull the dent out. As it cools it will level out a little more. If you tore the vinly, don't try this. You wll only make it worse. If you dented the underlayment too, the vinly will eventual settle back into the dent. In the last two instances, you have to do a repair patch, in which case, jusy hire a flooring guy.
I know how to do patches, but am not good enough at it to pass my own inspection, much less a clients.
