here’s our favorite house.. last winter it was also the squirrels favorite..
they ripped some slats out of the gable end louver..
so now , it’s time to rip out the old and put in the new.. the new one is a Fypon , decorative only since we put ridge vent in this section when we reroofed it last month…..
problem is i didn’t have a good staging plan.. so we wasted about 4 hours trying different solutions.. finally we went and got our 44′ magnesium and i ripped and nailed while roy cut…
here’s how it used to look.. and after the squirrels.. and a start..

Sounds like you ran over there after lunch think you would just throw this louver in in a coupla hrs..........
Owner looks like one of those tough as nails coastal folks.......probably sweet as pie too huh?
I like the way you nipped the bottom corner of the shingle........not sure alot of people would get that the first time around. At least you didn't have to run everything up the whole 40 ft.
I remember seeing this place in an old post of yours?

can't fool me ...
that's only 30 steps up there ...
I counted!
sometimes it takes a while to figure dragging the damn ladder out is the best way ...

Thermo-ply,
Whats up with that?
Man I hate that stuff,
If you buy enough they will print your company logo on that stuff!
i started using it because i could get 4x10 sheets... and it had the foil surface on both sides.. w used it for our base sheet in all our solar collectors..
then when i started reading their literature.. i found it was structural.. great if you're using horizontal siding..
here's one of our hot air collector systems..
everything except the roof sheathing is ThermoPlyMike Smith Rhode Island : Design / Build / Repair / Restore
Mike,
About 20 years ago, I kid you not. On a high end home outside of Colorado Springs, some GC (dog & pickup type) did use thermo ply for the under layment for a tile roof job. No ply-wood just the cardbord ,1by & tile. How this one got pass the building dept, makes one wonder($$?). Anyhow roof bud & my self striped it down to trusses & did it right.
Not to hurt anybodys feelings but the only ones using the stuff of late our the track builders. The product is just slapped on & they staple the $hit out of it. To bad the installers have given it a bad name around here!
One up side, next time it snows, bring a piece to the local sled hill, you will be the fastest one on the hill!
"The product is just slapped on & they staple the $hit out of it."
This is the first time I've ever seen the stuff ... must not be used too much around here ...
that stapling must be part of the training ... I just thot what they were saving in ply ... they were trying to make up for in staples!
anyways ... gotta put back what ya take out ....
rule of remodeling is match the existing .... so .... I found some thermoply ....
good point about the sled .... I was wondering what I was gonna do with the extra sheet I have .... tried to talk my scavenger buddy into taking it home for his kids ...
I thought .. add a hose .... U got a slip and slide!
now I'm thinking sled ... coupla score marks ... fold .. dust tape ...
and away ya go!

Hot air collector? Almost looks like a big solar water heating array. ha ha it'd be big enough to heat a pool!

I think I'd seriously be considering purchasing a fire truck on the way up that ladder. What a beast.
I think ladders are my least favorite...rather be on pump jacks, walls brackets, roof jacks, ladder jacks, even the roof itself, instead of working off an extension ladder over 24'. First time I saw a 60' extension ladder I seriously considered going home!
Another nice looking job though.
brian... i finished "gutted " and mailed it back to your buddy..
