How many fixtures on 2″ horizontal line?
Hi all —
I’m remdodeling a bathroom on a slab foundation and we’re adding a second sink to the room. The existing drain pipes are all cast iron with hubs. There is currently a 2″ horizontal pipe feeding into a 3″ horizontal pipe. In the original layout, the shower and sink both tied into the 2″ pipe. In our new layout, can the plumber tie both sinks and the shower into that 2″ line or do we need to snap the 3″ line and add a 3x2x3 san-t or wye so the two sinks can use one 2″ pipe and the shower can use a second 2″ pipe?

No problem--a 2" horizontal
No problem--a 2" horizontal drain line is good for up to 8 fixture units (not 8 individual fixtures--8 fixture units).
A shower is counted as 2 FU, each sink is 1 FU.
If I was doing it it would be 3-4 FUs installing a single sink.
When you say it would be 3-4 FUs installing a single sink, what exactly does that mean?
frick ups
or fock ups
I wondered how long it would take to get a reply of that sort--what took you so long?
I was out with the family to see a movie.
