I know that to fasten down tonge and groove decking with nails the nailing schedule is 8D 6″oc outside edge, 8″oc joints and 12″oc field. What about with #8 screws (I’ll also use construction adhesive)?

Follow the same guideline.
I personally go every 6" along the field, and every 3 or 4" at end seams and edge seams.

*Myles,When we go on a job to waterproof a balcony/deck we ask/insist that the 3/4" plywood be fastened every 12" oc with 2" #8 screws. At the corners we ask for a screw within 6" and that all end butt joints be blocked from underneath and screwed according to the previous specs.. Joists should be on 16" centers. With this being done we extend a 5 year limited warranty - with confidence and sleep very well at night.Cliff.
*Thanks for your help- this is for a basement remodel subfloor and one concern I have is that the 3/4" TG plywood will only be on 1x4 sleepers (16"oc) thus I can only go with a 1 1/8 or 1 1/4 max screw lenght. Should I use a #10 screw or am I alright do you think?
*Myles,I was told (years ago, and I don't know if it's true, but it doesn't seem to have failed me) that screws should have 1" of bite into the substrate. If you have a 1x4, I'm assuming that the 1" will be the depth, then in reality you will have only 3/4" of wood to get a bite into. I don't think that going to a #10 is your answer. Perhaps going to closer spacing with the #8's and adding some glue will do the job and give you peace of mind. I've had good luck with Robertson drive screws which I buy from McFeely's. You may want to call them at (800) 443-7937 and see what they have to say. I like the Robertson (square drive) screw because it stays on the bit when held at an angle and drives much easier than other types - try it, you'll like it.Cliff.
