Hey evrybody.
Have to end up with finished grade 18″ higher than it currently is. Using grey sand fill, how high would you go so it ends up18″ once it has settled? Should i tamp it with a compacter and keep adding till I hit my mark?
Thanks
Kevin

Sand normally doesn't need any compaction.
What's going on TOP of the sand? a building, or a yard, or what?
some sand will be under the house within the walls of the new foundation. The rest will be on the other side of the foundation walls with a gradual slope away from house. Inside equal to or higher than outside. Once the house is down and the cribbing removed, I can fill the spot they were in, put down a vapor barrier, and pour a slab a few inches thick, they call it a dustcap or ratstop here. The fill outside the crawlspace will not have anything on it.
18 1/2" and no compaction.
